I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I keep singing 'I'
I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I keep singing 'I'

It's the simple things that satisfy,
Keep my feet on the ground and keep singing 'I'
I'll sing it more than you can stand,
And I won't change my mind when you take 'way the band!
- 'thanks' should go to Dave Farrow

**** BBC Discussion ****

I just wanted to draw your attention to a large discussion at the beeb.com
website concerning Delirious?. If you go to http://www.forums.beeb.com/totp/
and then find a link in the list of current discussions called 'Radio 1 and
TOTP discriminate against Christians' (or something like that), there is a
huge discussion about Delirious? and Christianity in music. I just read all
102 messages in it out of curiousity and because I'm a huge d:fan. I wanted
to voice my opinions too but it wouldn't work. Anyway I just thought I'd
mention it.

Spurious? would like to thank Gareth James for bringing this to our
attention. That, plus the fact his name is Gareth, which totally rocks

**** Golden Grahams ****

In a bizarre move for the band and the cereal, delirious? have been featured
on the compilation freebie CD "the best album of the next century ever"
which comes with Golden Grahams cereal. The track listing looks a summin'
like this:

~ terrorvision - josephine
~ delirious - see the star
~ vast - somewhere else to be
~ space raiders - (i need the) disko doktor
~ wilt - working for the man
~ sound 5 - heavy transit
~ the paradise motel - hollywood landmines
~ a - foghorn

As is now usual with delirious? media coverage, the question mark appears to
be absent. This is the media's fault: delirious? are not shedding the
coveted question mark as they once tossed aside their hard working '5'. Wilt
are quite good - similar to Tree - but delirious? hold their own on this CD,
even if it is with Mezzamorphis' weakest song, See The Star.

Spurious? offer thanks and milk to Chris Horseman for this bit of dnews.
Anyone else find it ironic that the See The Star video features the now
famous muffin throwing incident at the breakfast table (Tim to Stew,
narrowly avoiding the hot ribena) and then the song itself appears on
breakfast tables around the country?

**** deliRINGous vote ****
deliRINGous - the ONLY delirious webring - has been running a vote for the
past few months. Spurious? (http://www.spurious.org), the website hosting
the delightfully informative deliRINGous (http://www.spurious.org/dring),
has taken it into it's head to bully Dan Ficker (deliriousguy@netzero.net)
into handing the early results.....

.....but, to generate some suspense and to drag it out for no real reason,
we will be revealing the top three in each category, one category per issue
of dnews. In case of a draw, 'Mezzamorphine' gets preferential
treatment....I mean, all will be listed. Sites recieving an award can look
forward to receiving a logo thing which makes all their hard work justified.

Week One: The Site With The Best REVIEWS
1 ~ dheaven
2 ~ Spurious?
3 ~ Dave Wood's Delirious? Webpage

Close runners include d:brief and Mezzamorphine.

**** Mublawen? ****
After Martin's letter that mentioned the band were ready to start demo-ing
from the new album, talk started to flurry on the delirious? listserv about
this new album. I soon became fed up with everyone writing 'the new
delirious? album' and other such long-winded phrases so I came up with an
unofficial tentative working title: I christened it Mublawen.

So if you need to talk about the new delirious? album, call it Mublawen. A
prize to the first person to write to adam@spurious.org and tell me why.
Unless you're on the listserv and already know why.

**** The Man Who Doesn't Know The Meaning Of The Word 'Deadline' ****

So we welcome Mike Jones, the man who didn't understand the meaning of the
word 'deadline' when I asked for contributions to the Craig Borlase Tribute.
Yes, Mike's tribute arrived in my inbox an astonishing 35 days after I asked
for it. But, being a compassionate guy, I've decided to include his literary
work of genius, on the condition that I could publically humiliate him in
the introduction.

"When I read the 'Purepop?' book it was so well written, and so powerfully
portrayed the d: story I did not sleep a minute that night, not one." - Mike
Jones, The Man Who Doesn't Know The Meaning Of The Word 'Deadline'

**** Lyric Of The Issue ****

i look beyond the empty cross forgetting what my life has cost and wipe away
the crimson stains and dull the nails that still remain more and more i need
you now i owe you more each passing hour the battle between grace and pride
i gave up not so long ago so steal my heart and take the pain and wash the
feet and cleanse my pride take the selfish take the weak and all the things
i cannot hide take the beauty take my tears the sin-soaked heart and make it
yours take my world all apart take it now take it now and serve the ones
that i despise speak the words i can't deny watch the world i used to love
fall to dust and thrown away i look beyond the empty cross forgetting what
my life has cost so wipe away the crimson stains and dull the nails that
still remain so steal my heart and take the pain take the selfish take the
weak and all the things i cannot hide take the beauty take my tears take my
world apart take my world apart i pray i pray i pray take my world apart
- "Worlds Apart" by Jars of Clay
- a spoken bridge that builds to a crescendo amidst humblifying*,
overpowering guitars that bring it to an epic conclusion that we really are
'worlds apart'.

*yes, I did make that word up.

Another end to another dnews. Not much news this time round, but things
could shortly be warming up in the land of question marks and colons....
